Specification Summary:
Bolton Gate Company’s range of 60 minute rated, A0 fire shutters have been specifically developed to provide a compact and highly effective solution for the closure of numerous types of openings in fire rated bulkheads.
Tested to the latest IMO Resolutions and in accordance with the 2010 FTP Code, the Fireroll A0 has been approved and certified by most of the leading marine authorities including RINA, USCG, Lloyds, DNV & ABS.
Exported around world, the shutters are manufactured at our factory in the UK in accordance with the Company’s ISO 9001:2015 Quality System. Accordingly, we are also authorised to use the wheelmark standard alongside our MED approval and Module D Certification.
In keeping with SOLAS II-2, the Bolton Gate A0 rated shutter is often used (in conjunction with a third-party sprinkler system) as an entirely legitimate and more cost effective alternative when there is a requirement for an A60 door or rating on a servery type opening.
The Fireroll A0 has been supplied on countless marine projects around the world. Primarily used on internal and external servery type applications, the A0 fire shutter has also been installed in front of catering equipment, walkways, shop or concession entrances, lift doors, stairwell atriums, ‘toy cupboards’, ROV and lifeboat hangars.
The list of vessels using the A0 shutter to provide fire safety is extensive, ranging from cruise ships, super yachts, ferries and riverboats to naval aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates, submarines and patrol boats. The fire shutter is also utilised on container ships, reefer vessels, tankers and carrier ships, PSV’s, support vessels, drill ships, offshore platforms and wind turbine laying and cable laying vessels.
The shutter is electrically operated using a 230-volt nominal, 1phase, 50Hz or 60Hz AC motor. (Other power supply options are available).
The motor includes an integrated starter, electromagnetic brake, limit switches, status indication and is operated from an open/close/stop push button station at low level.
The shutter is electrically operated for everyday use but in the event of fire, the motor brake is released by either a fusible link or 24v DC auto re-set magnet and the shutter closes with a controlled rate of descent.
To assist with installation, the standard system is pre-wired in our factory and simply needs to be plugged-in onboard.
In the event of power failure, the shutter can be opened by hand chain or closed by pull cord.
Shutter curtains are constructed from continuously interlocking 51mm flat section galvanised steel laths which are securely held in place by steel endlocks.
The bottom rail is also formed from a reinforced lath to give uniformity of appearance. A stainless steel nameplate is fitted stating the relevant approval body and the unique door reference for traceability purposes.
The shutter curtain runs in vertical guides fabricated from cold rolled galvanised steel channels each with continuous steel angles. These angles are pre punched to ensure fixing to the bulkhead at the correct centres.
The roller is made from a seamless steel tube of adequate diameter and wall thickness to avoid deflection and its solid steel shaft is supported in bearings mounted on each endplate.
Fabricated from steel plate and prepared to accept the coil casing. Securely bolted to steel angles which are drilled for attachment to the bulkhead at the correct centres.
Coil and motor casings are constructed from galvanised steel and attached to the structure by setscrews.
The shutter is supplied in a white polyester powder coat finish (RAL 9010) as standard. Where non-galvanised parts are utilised, these are finished with one coat of primer paint.
6000mm clear width x 2260mm clear height or
4880mm clear width x 2780mm clear height.
Varies with opening size dependent on lath/barrel/casing requirements but approximately 50kgs/m².
