FIREROLL A0 CLASS - Rolling Shutters

Bolton Gate's new range of Fireroll AO shutters has been developed with failsafe closure and safety in mind whilst maintaining a high aesthetic appearance and offering a solution to all manner of openings in fire rated bulkheads.

Further design improvements have been made to facilitate on-board installation and the new Speedsafe motor offers gravity failsafe closure with a controlled descent in all instances together with an improved manually operated version for smaller openings.

The shutter has been successfully tested to the latest IMO Resolution A754 (18) and is available and approved as an oversize door up to 7 metres x 7 metres. The design is approved by most of the leading Marine Authorities including Lloyds, ABS, US Coast Guard, Bureau Veritas, RINA etc. and is the only rolling door to hold the latest MED approval.

The range is available in a choice of high quality decorative finishes from standard galvanised to polished stainless steel (grade 304 or 316) and an extensive range of polyester powder coated colours from the RAL range.

STANDARD SPECIFICATION

Curtain
The shutter curtains are constructed from continuously interlocking galvanised steel laths securely held in place by endlocks. Shutters up to 3 metres wide are normally supplied with 51 x 0.9mm thick flat-faced laths with larger shutters being constructed from heavier duty 76mm curved laths in thicknesses of 0.9 or 1.2mm dependant upon size.

Bottom Rail
On flat-lath shutters, the bottom rail is formed from a reinforced lath to give uniformity of appearance. Larger curved-lath shutters employ double angles to form an inverted "tee" section. Both types are fitted with a stainless steel nameplate stating the relevant approval body and other details.

Guides
Vertical guides are fabricated from cold rolled galvanised steel channels 52 or 79mm deep with continuous steel angles, which are pre-punched to ensure fixing to the bulkhead at the correct centres.

Roller
The roller is made from seamless steel tube of adequate diameter and wall thickness to avoid deflection and its solid steel shaft is supported in bearings mounted on each endplate.

Endplates
Fabricated from steel plate and prepared to accept the coil casing. Securely bolted to steel angles which are drilled for attachment to the bulkhead at the correct centres.

Coil Casing
Constructed from galvanised steel and attached to the structure by M8 setscrews.

OPERATION

Manual operation
Manual push-up operation is via lifting handles on the bottom rail. Self-closing in a fire condition is achieved by the activation of either a fusible link or the interruption of a continuous fire signal to a 24 or 220 volt DC magnet. Larger shutters are fitted with a speed governor to control the descent.

Electrical operation
The shutter is driven by a single or three phase geared Speedsafe motor which incorporates an electro-magnetic brake, adjustable limit switches and a push button station. The design provides a fail-safe system which will close the shutter automatically in the event of a fire without the need for mains power and a controlled descent is assured whether closing electrically or by gravity. Activation in a fire situation is as the manually operated version.

Manual operation in the event of power failure is achieved by releasing a pull cord to close the shutter with a controlled descent and a hand chain to re-open.

MAXIMUM SIZES
Manual shutters: 2.5 metres wide x 1.5 metres high.
Electric shutters: 7 metres wide x 7 metres high.
